As a guy you probably think that after a great first date when it is obvious both individuals are interested in seeing each other again that you should wait to call. In fact, some guys think you should wait two days, other three days, and there are some guys who wait an entire week! This really is not the way to get a girl to want to go out with you again because right from the start she feels you are playing with her emotions. Don’t do that. Instead, call her as soon as you want to. You might not want to call the same night of the date, but calling the next day is appropriate if you want to.
If you are a typical guy and you feel like you cannot get over the two day calling rule, that is fine. Just find another way to make contact so she knows you had a great time and you intend on asking her out again. For example, send her an email saying how much you enjoyed your evening and hope you can do it again. Then, follow that up with a phone call the following day. Alternatively, you could send a text that is short and sweet, like “I had fun”. You do not have to go overboard and send a dozen roses, but you could drop a single stem rose or other flower off in her mailbox with a short note. This will make her smile and feel special. Most importantly, it will tell her you are interested in her!
Women frequently come home from a date on cloud nine. However, after the guy does not call for a day, and then another day, or sometimes more, it can become quite stressful. Some women may even be angry and still others will write you off. Do not risk that all for some unwritten rule that you should not call. Go ahead and call because you will both be happier and can plan your second date sooner rather than later!
